proof of relationship

Hi experts,

We are submiting a visitor visa for my wife's mother and we can not provide my wife birth certificate to proove this is her mom.
Is this very important for the application?
Is there anyone who applied for a parent without a proof of relationship? I need to know your experience

We both canadian citizen and work full time. i dont know is this help for the application.

How has she proven all this years she is her mom? There should have been proof... that is requested for school enrollment, scholarships, hospitalization, etc.

If she can't prove she is her mother then you cannot apply using that as an argument.

She always lived in canada with her aunt and she was signing everything.

But everything she fill out with CIC (PR card, citizenship application,...), she always put her mom's name.So CIC already have her mom's name.

If she was signing everything then she must have a "legal guardian" kind of document.

The legal guardian document should have her mother's name.

That can be used as proof.
