I received ITA in December 2016. I am struggling with my Proof of Funds. I am single so the minimum amount I want to show is CAD 12000 which is USD 11000.
I am from Pakistan and studying in the US for the past two years. I have a $25,000 educational loan in Pakistan and $30,000 loan in the US. I am thinking of only showing my US account loan as $25,000 (is co-borrowed with my parents). Is it ok, if I show $20000 in my account as proof of funds? The $20000 is not my own but my parents are giving it to me as a gift. So I will show this with a gift deed.
As far as I know, Loan money can't be used as proof of funds. You can either show gift deed from parents or borrow money, put in your account for 6 months and get the statement.
I am in the same boat though. Pakistani, Single, in the US, awaiting ITA in next few months.
Would be nice to hear what others here have to say.
Let me rephrase this- I am not going to show my loans as proof of funds. However, CIC wants us to declare the liability we carry and I am not sure if I should show both the US loan and Pakistan Loan.
