I will appreciate if some body could respond, specially those who have recenlty crossed this step.
Is it possible to present Company funds / retirement benefits as valid and acceptable proof of fund or CIC only considers bank statement as valid proof of fund. Normally good companies offer such benefits to the employees which are available at the time of quiting or retirement.

I got a request from LVO to provide Proof of Fund within 30days. I did my medicals in Nov 2012 and they didn't ask with medicals. Kindly advice your opinion as I was not maintaining sufficient funds. How many months bank statement do i need to show and when to expect PPR ?
Usually, you need 6 months' bank statements. If you deposit a big amount all at once, you should be able to prove that those funds are yours and what is the source of funds, like you sold a property, a car, or jewlry. If you were maintaining funds shy of 2000-3000 dollars, then I do not see any problem your putting those funds into the account (source of funds should be clear). But if it was like you just had 10-20% of the required funds, then make sure you are able to prove that those funds are not borrowed from anywhere and belong to you in the form of above said sources.

If it is initial application, bank statement, fixed deposits (redeemable) and a letter from bank stating your account information and funds.
If it is for landing purposes: As PMM said.

As for me, I submitted bank letter only without statement at both the initial submission and medical request stage. Both went through with no problems, but maybe because the balance were higher than required. You should remember that sometimes its different from case to case, however I was ready to submit bank statement if requested.

I submitted retirement benefits that can be drawn anytime, but according to my GMCS notes they only reviewed my bank letter which was sufficient to satisfy the officer
The sole purpose of verifying fund availability is that they are unencumbered and are liquid, so you can use them any time. If there are sufficient funds in the bank, they are not concerned about anything else.
