Coolguy is correct. No other currencies r acceptable. Coming with Pesos, so that u can go back in 2 week's time & deposit it back in your home bank a/c will not work, my friend.

Congratulation that your case has been finanlized and you are goint to canada.
Actually my case is in process and i just have the 1st email form centralized intake office canada to submit supporting docment.
Can you tell me something about how the london visa office verify your shown funds? can i borrow half amount from some other for some and afterward my remaining balance would be half. so what if my account balance would be half at the time of verification?
my visa is processed in manila office. they required me to submit bank certification. you must show to them that you can survive in canada even if without landing a job for the first six months. You must not go below the required limit of funds considering the number of family members.
Yes. But u'd require to have a pre-opened Canadian Bank A/c first (eg. Scotiabank). Other 'off-shore' A/Cs (Swiss, Ceyman Islands etc.) won't work for the 'landing funds'.

Hi kabayan, what you can do is buy a DD in CAD at BPI ( you need to have an account with them ), then that is what you will bring. You can use the DD to open an account in canada but I think it will take a month to have it encashed. Its good that you have cash in CAD at hand coz that is what you will be spending while you are still looking for work.
I dont think theres a scotia bank here in manila. Ive asked PNB before and theyve told me that they have branches overseas but I am not sure how many branch they have in canada. They said its much faster to wire money interbranch. Maybe you can inquire with them and share to me the info. Good luck.
Yes, *Scotiabank - at some overseas cities only (eg. Dubai, India, China etc.). The same can also be done thru any of the Intl Banks, who have a presence here (eg. HSBC, Citi etc.) - but advisable to be avoided - b'coz of their limited presence.
Qorax *There's a separate thread going around for it.

Thats ok. I think though that one can bring a TC that can be presented at POE and also used for account opening. with some cash at hand for immediate expenses.
