Proof of financial support needed for how many years?

On the "Get the right documents – Study in Canada" page of the CIC website, it says that a single student should have a minimum amount of "Tuition plus $10,000 for a 12-month period (or $833 per month)" when applying for the study permit. If I'm applying for a 4-year course leading to a Bachelor's degree, should I interpret this as 4*(tuition + $10,000) or 1*(tuition + $10,000)? My intuition says the former, that they would want to see enough money to support myself with for my full 4-year stay in Canada, but I'm not so sure anymore. Can anyone help me?

Just the first year is sufficient.

How many months bank statement is mentioned on the checklist???

There is no mention of a bank statement being specifically required at all. It's just one of the forms of proof they accept. Note that I'm from Finland and therefore applying in the "general" category I guess, there's no such thing as SPP or anything like that for my country.

"You must prove that you can support yourself and the family members who accompany you while you are in Canada. You can prove that you have sufficient funds to support yourself in Canada by showing some of the following:

proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada;
proof of a student/education loan from a financial institution;
your bank statements for the past four months;
a bank draft in convertible currency;
proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees;
a letter from the person or institution providing you with money; and
proof of funding paid from within Canada if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program."

So if I interpret this correctly, just proof of a student loan should theoretically be enough? Although I do plan to show my bank statements for the past four months as well, including the student loan which should be on my bank account by then.

Could others provide confirmation that one year's funds are indeed enough? It's important for me since the amount of loan money I need depends on this.

Bank statement is needed for minimum four months but six is standard according to me. Even if you have loan give bank statement. One year tuition +13000$ is the minimum balance to show. But it wouldn't hurt if you can show for one more year or just half. If you have the four year worth amount then go ahead. If you have property or investment show that also it is good for showing home ties.
