Thanks vensak , I will have to search news and other stuff relating to change of name. Since, I am not part of the organisation, I will not have a note stating the change of name, which is in your case.
Check for business register of companies of your country, such change should be visible there.
Official statement in several newspapers is also good one and also if there was some statement from new company about how long you worked there where they can see matching adress and phone numbers.
well Yes. On the offer letter they had the old company's name too. So i guess it should be ok. However, finger's crossed and I am searching for business register right away ..
I checked on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs website India. The company name is the same, not changed. However, there are 2 entries for the same org with 2 different registration number. One more additional thing which has changed, is the address i.e. first one had Company A House .... as the address for same location and the second one has Company B House.... for same location, same building. This might help to differentiate between both the companies.

I worked for 2 different employers from 2007 to 2013, I have experience letters and I am now preparing to have letters as per CIC requirement. So my question is what date should be there as letter date? Today's date or date when I actually left working for them?
for employment proof, will a job reference letter suffice? the letter mentions the designation, work hours per week, duration of stint & roles and responsibilities but no salary or benefits.
