Processing time for ICT work permit

My friend got his biometric request today and is waiting trying to book an appointment at a VAC which has dates only available for 2 weeks in advance, can he book an appointment at a VFS which has dates available for next week.
your help is appreciated.

ICT visa application applied from Delhi together (work permit for me, TRV for spouse, Study visa for my Son : 8th March
BIL recieved - 18th March
Biometrics given for self - 22 March
Biometrics given for spouse in Nepal - 23 March
PPR recieved for all - 27 March
Passports submitted all 3 - 2 April
Stamping awaited

Help needed :
I want to know 2 things :
1) Has anyone travelled with family till now during pandemic to Canada and with what documents during boarding flight?
2 ) Do I need travel authorization letter for spouse and Kid to travel ?In how much time it will be recieved? Best way to write application for same

Just found this thread. Here is the timeline for my US -> Canada ICT work visa processing from last year.

• Application submission date: July 30th, 2020
• Approval: November 24th, 2020
• Flew to Canada (Seattle to Toronto): December 19th, 2020

But if you check the other link - to check application status - it says thy are still processing applications from Dec 2020.

4 weeks from day application was submitted or the day biometic were completed ?

some ppl have reported they got in like a week after biometrics

the processing time starts from the day of biometrics. It can get approved within 2 weeks if applied under Global Skills Strategy (GSS)

Yes we received our passport back with new visas stamped

Hello Vijay - Yes, I have heard that they will request for passport even though you have visitor visa. They will just review the passport and return it back. Did you receive the passport back ?

Hi Vijay - So, just to confirm. They have stamped new visas even though you had valid visitor visa ? Is it for 2years or 1 year ? And, did you apply from USA or India ?

Yes they stamped new work permit visa valid for one year for me , WP for my wife & study permit for my kids.

We are planning to go next month but still not sure if my family is allowed to travel with me

Below Process applies to INDIA VFS Only.

If you are from INDIA then they have changed the process a bit.

You can't book using normal process. (By creating an account on Online Portal)

You need to raise a WebFrom (VFS WebForm) for Biometrics and Passport Submission.
(And for Biometrics, they will provide you the date for which you need to be present at your selected location, if you are failed to do so you won't get a new appointment or you can't rescheduled that.)

Check Processing Times will give you general Idea about the Processing time for Newly Submitted application.

Check Status will give you an idea about What IRCC is currently processing - The dates indicates the Submission date of your application.

I believe both the links are not Up to the mark and we can't get proper idea about ICT Application.
It is better to check Online Account.

But Two friend of mine have received Passport Request in 15-30 days and they were eligible for GSS (Global Skills Strategy).

If you are eligible for GSS (Global Skills Strategy) then your applications (including dependents also) are eligible for 2 Week Processing.

Timeline for Friends for Passport Request : Both were eligible for GSS (Global Skills Strategy).

1) Submitted on : February 24, 2021.
Passport Request on March 26, 2021.

2) Submitted on : March 27, 2021.
Passport Request on April 09, 2021.

and IRCC Check Status link is showing they are processing for January 3 and 9, 2021 as of today. (for GSS (Global Skills Strategy))
