Processing time at New York City consulate

Sent my application on 07/17 from NYC, so they got it on 07/18. No passport yet. Emailed them twice last week, got a standard autoreply. However, today the consulate emailed the following:

"Dear Mr. XXXX, (I'm Ms. btw )

Ref your file: XXXXXX

Your application is still in process. Due to the volume of applications received during the summer period, we are experiencing some delays in the processing of applications.

Your passport will be mailed to you as soon as your application has been finalized.

Thank you for your interest in Canada.

New York, N.Y."

My trip is next Friday, I plan to got to the consulate this Friday, early in the morning. Wish me luck!

Mine was for TRV The date is 08/21/2012 same date they emailed me and told me it was still in process. I've never faced a consulate that would be so disorganized.

Have you tried to send an email to the embassy regarding the status of your applications? It's been 2 months now since you applied for your wp and no news yet? It's kinda weird? Why is it taking so long to finalize wp applications?

congrats!! I received my student visa today!!! Yeah! Very happy. They took exact 6 weeks. Wait was worth it. Guys hang in there and you'll get yours too. Good luck everyone!

I never heard anything from the embassy since they emailed me last week...

I'm hoping to get it before end of this month, you're just 2 days ahead of me when you submitted your apps. Well still good news that most of the guys here received a visa stamped in their passport.

Finally got my Tavel visa today.
Send on July 18th ,accepted on July 19th at NYC and got it back on August 23rd.
Total 5 weeks.
