I am currently holding a ICT closed work permit visa and working in Canada from the last 7 months.
My work permit is about to expire in May 2017, and my employer wants to process my application (a new visa application, as explained in notes below) in December 2016.
NOTE: My passport validity is also expiring in May 2017, and i will be applying for a new passport in December 2016. The visa officer initially explained in my VISA approval letter that- i need to apply for a new VISA in Canada (and not an extension), if i am getting a new passport (and my current ICT VISA is provided only up to May 2017, considering my passport validity and would not be valid once i receive my new passport).
In the process, i am planning to apply for Temporary Resident (TR)/ Spouse Open Work Permit (SOWP) visa for my wife to join me in Canada soon; and with my (Principal Applicants) current VISA validity, if a visa is provided for my wife- it will be provided only up to May 2017.
In this case, i have a query about my WIFE's visa validity-
if my wife is provided a visa with my current VISA validity (expiring in May 2017); and later with my new passport if i manage to get a new visa and work permit (i.e. not an extension, a complete new VISA and new Work Permit with different validity) before May 2017, will my wife's TR/ SOWP visa still be valid until May 2017 ?
Can anyone please help me regarding this matter, i am in a dilemma that- i would end up with double processing of my WIFE visa (i.e. now and after i get a new VISA again). Any suggestion would be also of great help!!
