On this forum I have read that Passport validity requirement is 6 months only. Please can someone clarify 6 months or 1 yr validity at the time of submitting passport for visa stamp?
I submitted our Medicals and other docs last week (under FSW) so waiting for next step (PPR1). My wife’s passport is valid till March 2013 so I'm hoping that Medicals are reviewed and I get to submit passports by Sept 30th this year (i.e. before 6 months of my wife's passport expiring).

PR visa duration depends on 2 factors: 1- Medicals (one year from date of Medicals done) and 2- Passport validity, whichever nearest
i.e., if date of passport expiry is March 2013 and date of medicals expiry May 2013, the visa expiry will be March 2013.
Hope this helps.

Is there any chance you could renew your wife's passport? It would be one less thing to worry about both before you get the passport request and then after landing to get her passport renewed?
If you renew it now, you'll ensure you get maximum validity for the visa when they issue it (otherwise, the visa can't expire after the passport does).
