Hello,

This question has probably already been discussed here, but I ll bring a new perspective.

My PR card expires in August 2017, so I ll be eligible to apply for a new one in coming December. I have a trip planned for February 2017 and may travel with the current one as I understand.
I have been traveled extensively past 4 years and resided 1200 days in Canada in total which is enough for PR. However, I did not work in Canada and only had income from stipend for studying in Montreal, Quebec. I did file taxes for each year. My passport stamps come from all over the world including from UEA, Europe, South America, Southeast Asia, India, etc.

I would like to ask for an expert opinion if lack of income, no employment (but studying with all diplomas) and this travel pattern would trigger a secondary review for PR renewal in your view? I am of russian nationality.

Further, if I do receive a RQ and would prove my residency for PR renewal, does it mean that when I apply for citizenship in the end of 2017, I will not need to repeat this same process all over again and will not receive RQ for second time?

If this is the case, I would actually pray TO GET RQ NOW as I apply for PR renewal and save a year of waiting for citizenship processing later since it will exempt me from RQ at a later time. Essencially, it would be equivalent of applying for citizenship now given that I wouldnt avoid RQ anyway. Follow me?

Thanks a lot for your input.

Answering my own question:

I did not have any problem with renewing my PR card and got it within 35 days. Applied 1st December, 6 January 2017 my brand-new card arrived in the mail. It's beautifully looking :-)

Now, I still dont know if i should expect QR for citizenship application in October,2017.

Congrats,
Nice to hear that you got it renewed.
I hope the Citizenship will also go smooth.
I believe that jobs and income are not a per-requisite for either Citizenship or PR.
but of course its nice to have.
