PR living abroad with Canadian Citizen

Hey guys,

I was wondering something. This is a hypothetical, but if I was a Canadian Citizen (which I plan to apply for this November) and I moved to the UK, lets say on January 1st 2020. I go to the UK with my girlfriend who just got her Canadian Permanent Residency. We stay in the UK for 2 years. While living in the UK, would she be accumulating days on the "physically present" requirements for Canadian Citizenship? I've been reading online that you may count each day that you accompanied a Canadian citizen if the person you accompanied is your spouse.

I am not sure if this is true or not or if it's true only under certain conditions. Generally speaking though, can anyone verify this?

No - this won't count towards citizenship. You are confusing two different sets of rules. It will only count towards her meeting the PR residency requirement (i.e. being able to keep PR). To accumulate days towards qualifying for citizenship - she must be physically living in Canada.

You also seem to be planning on moving back to the UK very soon. If that is the case your gf won't be able to count the years for PR. You have to be a citizen living with your partner and then decide to move. You and your gf would have no time established in Canada before you moved abroad.
