Am I a Canadian Citizen from descent? Living in the UK

Hi everyone,

I have a question that I just can't seem to get confirmed from looking through the the Canadian Government website.

Right so I am trying to see whether I am a Canadian citizen as I am looking to permanently move and work over there, my situation:

My mother was born in Canada and moved over to the UK when she was 6. She is still to this day a Canadian citizen, just a permanent resident of the UK. Married a Briton and is still currently living in the UK.

I am 19 years old and want to know whether I am a Canadian Citizen?

From what I gathered (if I do pass as a Canadian Citizen) I need to fill and send off the 'Citizenship Certificate for Adults and Minors (Proof of Citizenship)' form.

Appreciate any help.

If your mother was born in Canada, she is a 1st generation Canadian and therefore you are already a Canadian Citizen too (by decent) (2nd generation)

probably worth your mother also applying for a certificate as well given she moved to UK when 6 to ensure all paperwork in order to support you application unless since then she maintained a Canadian passport.
