I applied for PR - CEC on June 28th, 2023, for my wife and me.
Received AOR on the same day
Medicals - completed on September 28th.
Biometrics - completed on October 13th.
On the Application tracker, it says Background Verification in progress. But the eligibility has not started yet. Can anyone please help me understand my current situation? My Current WP is about to end on DEC 5th so I am worried about the timeline.
It may be dangerous to rely on lucky to get the eCOPR. Because even if you get approved (see COPR number in tracker or get Portal 1 email) you will only be considered PR after getting eCOPR which is following an insane timeline these days.
You don’t want to be out of status when you’re so close to get what you came for. Isn’t BOWP an option? I would suggest you at least talk with a regulated immigration rep.
I have been waiting for P2 email since August 18 but the way IRCC is processing it might take 3-4 months. My PGWP will expire in 4 months. In that case, how can extend my work permit? Can bridging open work permit be an option? Need your guidance please....
If you got the AOR and it says you can do BOWP, it is. You still have 4 months ahead, so you can still wait another 2 (but I really hope you can get the eCOPR sooner) but I would not jeopardize when you’re so close to get your PR, even if that amount of time you’re waiting is not your fault. If you apply for extension, BOWP, there’s the refund possibility if they didn’t assessed anything.
Also, I’m not a regulated rep, so you should seek one if you feel you still didn’t look all the options.
My wife and I have been waiting for our eCOPR since August 30th. This is unbelievable. My work permit will expiry in one month and I will have to pay just because IRCC is holding my eCOPR.
My timeline:
1st portal email: August 07
2nd portal email: August 30th
VO Montreal.
hi
just wanna give advice to people who are waiting for portal 2 email for long . send IRCC follow up email replying to the previous email . write a email requesting them to work on your file . it works
Portal 1 - 22nd of August (Etobicoke)
Portal 2 - 25th of August
Portal 1 (again) - 13th of September (Montreal)
eCOPR - 5th of October (Montreal)
PR Card Primary Applicant - mailed 19th of October
PR Card Dependent - ?
I didn’t receive any ghost updates on mine, I think I checked the portal on Monday or Tuesday and there’s nothing. And my photo and address are still under review…

Do you mean the document status or the Final Decision message?
For final decision it shows “October 6, 2023 Your application was approved. Check your messages below for details”
And the document status shows a message saying “We mailed your permanent resident card to you. Your card can take up to six weeks to arrive.”
Didn’t get any email, any update that wasn’t really an update. It went straight from “Your application is in progress…” to this. I thought that by GU people meant an update on the main page but when you enter there’s no visible changes, like it happens in the process

Yesterday, When I checked my application status it showed Status updated, when checked the change it was for Review of Additional Documents updated to Not Applicable previously it was We are reviewing. After checking my tracker today it says the Eligibility is completed for me but for my wife, it says not started yet. And, The Background check still shows In-progress for both.
It is quite confusing to understand the status they provided.

Are you Montreal? What happened to you? May I know your timeline? I did that weekly for 4 weeks and got no response and then I tried calling yesterday I was told that to just wait. I was told by the agent that following up via email might delay my application more. I don't really know what to do now.

Do you have access to the tracker? Not that the tracker is precise, but it gives you a better ideia of what’s going on. Because GCKey only updates after you get approved (receives your eCOPR). Until then the only thing that’s going to change is a message status saying that a final decision changed and the date that happened.
