Is it ok if I share your story with others here that may be considering doing the same thing: applying for a PRTD while still in Canada, for a personal vacation. I think it's great that it worked for you and it could be at least enlightening for others.

Will applying for PRTD in Canada be considered misinformation? I applied for PRTD in Canada yesterday, but I am worried that it will be rejected. Do I need to withdraw?
Hi, need an urgent advice based on your experience. I need to travel from Canada to the US in 2 weeks but my PR card has an incorrect country of birth. I received the eCoPR amendment. Can I still travel with the same PR card or should I apply for the replacement? My concern is that even if I apply for an urgent replacement, I will not receive it on time. Also, my travel is only for 5 days. So even if I apply for a PRTD, I doubt I will get it on time for my return to Canada.

I don't think the incorrect place of birth info should matter. Take the corrected ecopr with you just in case. (Note, answer is up to the airline in the end, possibly to US immigration, so I can't say for certain).
