Hi,

My PR card was about to expire on August 2013 (9 months left). Now I lost my PR card. Should I apply for replacement or renewing? If in both cases they update the expiry date for next 5 years and if for renewal they do not collect the last card, So what's the difference?
 
It's the same application form, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/prcard.asp

If you lost your card, you should fill out the section at the bottom of the form. Your new card will be valid for 5 years.
