Application received (renewing) April 7 , AOR received just now, it took 4 months…
PR Renewal
Application sent to Sydney, Nova Scotia via trackable mail on 13th April 2021
Application received: 16th April 2021 (confirmed by Canada Post and AOR)
Processing time when application sent: 60-70 days (cannot remember the exact figure for that day), so I expected to hear something no later than 25th June 2021.
Acknowledgement of receipt of application on received at 08:37am MT today, 9th August 2021
Currently unable to track application status on the online system.
Thanks to everyone sharing your updates, I've been following the forum for a few weeks now.
It seems like they're making their way through early-mid April applicants now.

Which office?
I am living in Montreal but I think renewing is always processed in Nova Scotia
This is silly. IRCC should open the files quickly, and then take time to process them. Delaying AOR is preventing us from referencing our files for any updates or urgent processing demands. How ineffective

I'm in the same boat - I got an email this morning saying that they've received my application on April 16, 2021. It's definitely way over the wait-time and I've written to them twice: one via the webform and the other via Case Specific Enquiry form. Hope things are moving along now. Same for those outland applicants who've been waiting for COPR for over a year... Super frustrating.

But this also quite encouraging, even we can't change anything about the backlog, it's very nice to see mid-April applicants are now getting AORs. It seems like the average time for AOR is going down slightly. However it is too early to make a conclusion yet, but it is certainly very encouraging to see this.
You would get your AOR early September if you are lucky, there is nothing to worry about. Backlog is huge.
When do you think I will get AOR? My photo was delivered july, 21
Do you guys know if I can travel outside Canada with my visitor permit? The one I have is still valid until 2024
I’m still waiting for PR card but I have to travel in December and to be honest I don’t think I will get the card before that

Sorry, I’ve only followed renewals, not really sure about new PR cards. Also you cannot use your visitor record to travel, your TRV is automatically invalidated after you become PR. If you travel before you receive your card, PRTD is most likely your only option.

Thanks for your reply

These are interesting times when we are happy with 4 months AOR for renewing PR card

Admittedly this the first time I am renewing my PR card, but this process would have been completed in 40 days or so in normal times.
What's more interesting is that new PR processing time has been steadily going down (sometimes significantly), while renewals are going up or steady mostly

No.
You’ll need a PRTD to return to Canada in this case
New PR application sent: Jan 26, 2021 for family of 4
I received mine during the first week of May, followed by kids' PR card the next week. Wife's card is approved today.
All these applications were sent in one single envelope to Ottawa IRCC. Not sure why one took so long.
No AORs for any of the applications. The status went straight to approved.
First PR Card Application:
COPR: March 6, 2021. Was asked to send the photos to the Ottawa office. Photos were delivered on March 9 through UPS.
Have not heard anything since then. Anyone in the same boat?
