PR Card (New/Renewal) Processing Timeline 2021

Hi All,
I am posting this question on behalf of my friend.
He is a Canadian citizen, his wife and kids are PR holders. His family moved to India last year during covid and not planning to return anytime soon due to this pandemic.
His wife's PR is expiring in June 2021 and she has met the eligibility criteria by staying 2 yrs already in Canada under the PR visa. Can he extend her PR while in India itself? Any challenges in that?

There shouldn't be any issue in renewal application, as far as eligibility requirements are met.

UPDATE. Applying for my first PR card:

• CoPR letter granted: January 8th
• Application for PR card received: January 7th
• As requested in my CoPR letter, sent two photos on January 8th.
• Silence for 98 days... Application probably sat in a queue collecting dust.
• Received a ghost update today. Hopefully, that means someone finally picked up my application. Seems promising!

What is a ghost update?

Can you please tell me if your COPR letter came from Toronto Etobicoke?

Also where did you get all these messages? Like my pictures were submitted on 8th of April but i didn't get any kind of messages that you have mentioned.
Your help will be appreciated.
