PR Card (New/Renewal) Processing Timeline 2020

My documents are also delivered on Jan 8, however Jan. 9 and 10 were weekends, so I assume Jan. 11 as the start date to count down.

I travelled on an expired COPR - so unable to get a SIN number. That's why I have marked the application as urgent - hopefully they treat it as urgent. This is my first PR.

PR card renewal application for myself

I sent my application on November 16, 2020 through Canada post and was delivered on November 24, 2020 (Tracking info). Here is the application status update from ECAS. I still cannot link my application on IRCC account. ECAS says decision made and following are the updates on application.

1. Application received on November 24, 2020.
2. AOR sent on January 26, 2021.
3. Started processing application on January 26, 2021

Hope this helps.
Update: My card was mailed on February 3, 2021.

PR expires every 5 yrs.

just remember when you renew you must show that you have physically been in canada for at least 2 of those 5 yrs.

There is a lot more to this question and different possible answers that depends on your future plans.

To add to the previous response, you can go from the first PR Card to citizenship if you meet the requirement after 5 years.

Its fast nowadays. Its only 3-5 business days from the day we see the ecas line on "card was sent by mail".
Also for me this line said it was sent on 29th Jan but the card was printed on 27th itself. So not sure if they are actually sending the mail 2 days earlier than this date but either way its fast. Not sure if they are sending from local office.

I received the card on 3rd or 4th(to Windsor, ON). We could see few members posted the similar delivery timelines in other pages of this thread.

Status is changed to decision made on my IRCC FILE STATUS. But it doesn't show if it has been mailed. Does it mean they rejected my file?

Permanent Resident Card

1. We received your application for a permanent resident card on November 20, 2020.
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on January 18, 2021.
3. We started processing your application on January 18, 2021.

The status that will have the mailed out 4th row is "COMPLETE"
Your card is mailed out when the status shows "Complete". Hope this helps.

Usually it takes a few days to reflect online. R*** is the application number. You can look up your application using either your UCI or Application number.

PR card is usually valid for 5 years. You can renew it if you have lived 2 out of 5 years.
