PR card and Renewal

I hold a PR card which is valid till Jan'19. I intend now moving to Canada in a couple of months by Oct'2017 but will not meet the two-year requirement that is required for a renewal. Will this affect my job opportunities since PR is valid till Jan'19 and will be getting housing/driving license/other basic requirements be an issue. Further, i have not applied for my wife's visa so could you advise the process for that. Can she come on a visit visa and then get converted into my sponsorship application.

You won't be able to sponsor your wife until you have lived in Canada for two years straight and meet the residency obligation. If you try to sponsor her earlier, her application will be refused and your PR status will be revoked. Yes - she can try applying for a visitor visa. However there is no guarantee it will be approved and it's quite possible she may not be able to travel with you to Canada. If her visitor visa is refused, you will need to live apart for several years if you want to keep your PR status.
