PR Card Renewal

Hi,

I have to renew my PR card in next few months. I have couple of questions.

1. Does PR card needs to be at least valid for 3 or 6 months beyond the date of return to Canada? any such rule or Airlines insist on anything like this?

2. Is paper application for Renewal of PR still on? Or I have to apply online? How is experience of anyone applying online for PR card renewal, please share?
