Hi guys, I applied for PGWP January 9, and my passport will be expiring September. I know I will be getting my work permit until september. But my question is, while I wait for a decision from IRCC on my permit, can I go ahead to renew my passport so that immediately my permit comes i can apply for a renewal?

We should encourage people to post their updated status here so we can track what dates IRCC are processing. As we can see, the application status date on the immigration website is not entirely accurate.
Applied on December 14 for PGWP, OWP for my wife and visitor record for daughter. Still waiting. After applying, I received a letter from IRCC that allowed me to work until April 12th. Do I have to stop working after April 12th given I won't receive a PGWP?

This has already been explained in the previous posts in this thread. You can continue to work, or find a new job regardless of the date mentioned in the letter you received.

Same situations like us. We applied 16th of November. They gave us 16th of March extension. Time is up but they said you can work while processing continue
When is your present TRV expiring? If it expires after December don't bother to apply a new one at the moment.
To answer your question you can apply for a TRV any time after you receive an approval letter of your work permit from IRCC. But i've seen many applicants' TRV applications delayed because they applied when their present TRV is still valid.
Long story short - apply only when your TRV has expired. If not, you can continue to use until it's expiry regardless of the type of TRV (visitor or student).

Yes, you can continue working. But from my own experience: applying for new jobs, provincial health insurance, driver's license is a nightmare when your application is still under processing with IRCC.
