Thank you very much! I was just reading in the forum that one cannot show CD/FDs as POF. I was thinking of showing a partial amount in CDs. Wouldn't that be acceptable for soft landing?

Thanks, that worked. I see many people in the forum mentioning that they received some number or updates about their passport after sending it to VFS. Does VFS give any reference number? I have sent my passport to VFS Los Angeles last week (tracking says delivered) and have not received any update since then. I have also enclosed a return label in my packet and that isn't active yet. How long does it take for the passport to be returned to me?

You only get a notification when your VO receives the passport. You can track using the tracking id provided by VFS. It generally takes 6-10 working days.

VFS has not provided me any tracking ID and that's what my concern is. When I called their customer support, I was told that I will be receiving an email notification about the status of Passport but, I haven't received anything so far.

Thank you! I just read in another thread that the passport return time is 30 days for this particular VFS (LA). My current visa in US expires in two weeks. That's why I'm concerned about the passport to be returned so that in worst case I can at least travel to home country and come to Canada once I receive the card.

I am not sure why they have not given you the tracking ID, you can just call them and ask for the update using your passport number and name, that is all i can help you with, or if you have a receipt id, call them and ask them to provide a tracking id for you.

@Immigration_guru Thanks for all your help. Got my passport back yesterday from Consulate (processing time - 20 days) with a single entry visa for 2 months (that is when my medicals expire). I have a question if you could please answer. Can I move permanently to Canada with all my stuff without doing soft landing initially and coming back later?
