In 2016 I want to apply to sponsor my father to come to Canada, and can't figure out if he needs to get a Medical and Police Background check done as part of the application.
There is no mention of either on the document checklist, or the application instructions on the "Sponsorship of Parents and Grandparents" page, but the "Medical exams and police checks" page states "applicants may be required to undergo a medical exam" and "If you are applying for permanent residence or Canadian citizenship, you must provide a police certificate."
These things take time to get and cost money so it'd be good to know if they actually needed or not.
