Police Check

quick question about how long police checks are valid. We had to get a UK and Australian police check (My boyfriend is in Canada on a work permit, he previously lived in the UK and Australia)both of which say they are valid for 12 months. We got both of those in November 2011.

We are applying in the next few weeks which means the police checks will be 6 months old by then. I have heard the CIC might have a problem with this. these checks were SUCH a pain to get in the first place I REALLY hope we don;t have to get new ones.

any advice would be great,

Unfortunately police checks can only be three months old when they are received by CIC. So you're going to have to request new ones...

The certificate must have been issued no more than three months prior to submitting your application.

yes you will have to get new police clearance because you can not submit older than 3 months.

thanks for your replies. that is really frustrating since it took almost 3 months just to get both the checks!

do you think we should send everything including the police checks we have since we are ready while we are getting the new ones? just to get the ball rolling?
