I guess you can give a shot this month. Otherwise, there is no way but waiting. Even you called CIC or have CGMS, it won't accurately tell you the exact progress. And even if the sources says "security not started," it doesn't necessarily mean security not started yet. Many cases show that even though the security has in progress but it shows as not started.

It is carried out by the intelligence agency, CBSA and is associated with information from applicable foreign government, CIC can't control and can't accurately figure out how long it would take.
The funny thing is that you could be the subject for the security screening even though have not done anything. What I heard is the criteria are like your name, nationality, job, travel and residence history and etc. I guess if they found some meaningful similarities from database, they might check your information deeply.

On your GCkey status (first page) your current status will say "application/profile updated". But when you click on the link to access the more detailed page there is no change at all.
