Is US also a basement base country? When I search property for rent in canada I get most of them in basement. Sorry to say I am so much a fresh air guy who even turn the heating high & keep the windows a bit open at night in 0 degree Celsius outside. Never knew people can frequently live in basement suite like this in canada. Haha

coz it's cheap to rent basement than getting a apartment for rent and most of the apartments are on one year lease plus doesn't matter for 4-5 months it's going to be -25 to -45 at some places.

Not all places are available for renting basement (i think its only on individual houses) may not be with apartment community(where most will take one).
Yes (its free country) there is no problem in opening all doors and windows in freezing temperature (except that you will end up freezing the water pipes and might break ;D).

Cool. From which month does the temperature starts to rise after freezing winter? How normally a couple stay there? By sharing with others or renting a seperate basement/apartment? Also what's the rent in average? Thanks in advance
