I think that is the reason you didn't receive email. If you have already linked your account, you would get all your updates via your cic portal. It is normal.
Just for my reference, when you say you linked your file with cic; does this mean you linked using your name, passport details and other background you have? Because otherwise you need AOR/UCI to link your file. (UCI means unique client identification and AOR means Acknowledgement of Receipt).
Also, if you can also confirm, if I am not wrong, to link without AOR/UCI, we need to go to cic login, click on "link file" button and select the third option. Right?
