Something need you guys for help. The contract that sponsor my PR is valid till April next year but do not state that I can't resign or have to complete the contract. Can I still resign from my current job?

me n my spouse applied for PNP PR and waiting for PPR.(Criminality in process from JULY 2018)
last year we applied for BOWP and it expired on june 2018.then we both applied for extension and it got rejected stating that my spouse didnt pay the employer compliance fee.
as of my knowledge those who dont want LMIA and apply work permit through 204c letter(AINP NOMINATION) they only have to pay the employer compliance fee.
so my question is
*is it possible to extend BOWP ?
*once BOWP expires what's next ?
*Since our extension refused what we have to do for staying in canada ?

if anyone have idea on this please reply. Thank You
