Check the previous pages, it was explained many times. It means that they did something to your application and usually this status happen just before the PPR.

The general status changed back to 'Submitted' again and BG:
Background check We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.

Your international passport & passport photograph - passport photos MUST be stamped & sign at the back.

Better to renew passport. Even my wife Indian Passport going to exipre in April, 2019 renewed last week.
Don’t take risk.
By the way what is your nationality?

When you renew the passport, how did you forward it to CIC? Also, how long does it take to update it

I renewed mine one month ago and send them new copies, it will delay your process if you dont send it, they may request it later

Better do it sooner than later
