Good Question Adi, I was thinking the same thing. And I wonder if they are saying dec 20 can take up 8 weeks to get in process, how long would Jan 6 take? :-X
Pnp and cec are totally different departments in Canada immigration office having different offices.
That is the reason when you submit application you send to address PNP CIO sydney
CEC send their application to different address
Even cpp ottawa have different depts and officers for PNP and CEC

If you take a look at the trend, all the Dec apps that were processed so far have been done at CIO Sydney as well as the late Jan applications. My opinion is that applications are processed in batches in Ottawa and in Sydney to clear the backlog. This is what happened in November as well. I think the batch from early feb to march will be again processed by Ottawa and early march to April by CIO Sydney.

Hey bdesilva, may be you are right but all the November and December applicants were asked their passports from Ottawa not from Sydney. It is clear from that the applications are finalized in Ottawa. Sydney just completes the file, if any document is missing, request the document from applicant and transfer the application to Ottawa for further processing.
