but colleges are also demanding minimium 6 bands
If there was a scenario that you had 5.5 bands in Writing then few Universities might have accepted your IELTS report.
Sorry to say, 5.5 band in Speaking is a real issue.
Speaking is one of the prominent part of IELTS test and demands above 6 bands on an average, though writing is a little tough and can be shroud off even if it has 5.5 band.
