Sorry to be so naive here...
We sent my husbands FBI clearance request in at the beginning of September... a lot of these posts are indicating a date that the form was received at the FBI office. How were you notified of this date?
Ive been stressing wondering if they even received our request.
i sent it via "certified mail". then u can track it online. same would happen if you send with fedex.
but now(after waiting for 5 weeks) you can just call them and ask explicitly (304) 625-5590. they will just ask your name and mailing address(written on the form) and then they will tell u the status of your request..
I just tried calling the FBI customer service twice and I can't get through. They're basically not taking calls now as their automated system is set to after hours. I'll try sending an email.
I mailed my fingerprint card sept 10. It was received by the FBI sept 12 and I haven't gotten my request back. I decided to check the money order status and it is still outstanding (not cashed yet). My next step is email. Is that the only way to get in touch with the FBI in regards to the status of of my record request???
I think the processing time is pretty lengthy at the moment. It took about 10 weeks for mine. And if you are trying to get in touch with someone there I recommend emailing them. I have emailed them twice and both times received a response within 48 hours.
Keep trying to call this number (304) 625-5590. The FBI actually received our request on Sept 12 and we received confirmation today (via email) that it would most likely be here this week. This was the same confirmation that my husband received when he called earlier last week.
At this point we are in our 9th week of waiting...which is probably average.
For sure get in touch with them and determine the status...i was really nervous last week as this is one of two outstanding documents we are waiting to receive before sending in the whole package.
(on the FBI website there is a website - something like liason@leo or something like that... i emailed them last week and they got back to me today)
Good luck
Hey Everyone,
Thanks for the response. I've tried calling several times but no luck. Email seems to be the 2nd best alternative. I'll do that now.
@Alf we have the same timeline. They received my request on Sept 12 as well. I sent my request via certified mail.
@ dream23 How come you called and got through and I didn't. I keep getting their after hour voicemail. What prompts did you follow on the automated voice system?

That's strange. actually i called them twice and both times had no any problem to talk to the lady.
i call 304 625 -5590 and then press 2-4-4
2) individual
4) status of criminal background check
4) live or work in foreign country
Hey guys I got thru.
I have to fax something to them so that they can continue processing my request. I received my record number and spoke to a very nice rep.
They received my request on August 18, and I received my letter on November 3. It was dated September 29th, so it took quite a while for them to get it to me.
