hi there, i was landed as immigrant last Feb 2012 and my PR card is still in process... Since i dont have yet work here in CANADA, im planning to have vacation in my Country for some personal reasons. My concerns are:
1. Can i leave canada without PR card? if so, what necessary papers for me to secure?
2. Is there a limit of time for my vacation? since it was my first vacation, somebody telling me that there is a new policy that if its your first time vacation you can only allowed for a maximum of 3 months outside canada, and if its your second time vacation you are allowed to a maximum of 6 months outside canada. How true about this new policy? Is there somebody out there knows about this?
1. Yes - you can leave Canada without your PR card. There is no paperwork you need to complete before you leave. However to re-enter Canada, you will need either your PR card or a travel document.
2. There is no 3 month or six month rule. To maintain PR status you must live in Canada two out of every five rolling years. That is the only rule.
