I would like to get some clarification on photos required for the PR application. My spouse is applying from the U.S. and she is including two dependent children who will NOT be accompanying her. The Document Checklist specifies four (4) photos of each, size 1-3/8" x 1-3/4", and the information from the DMP in Denver CO requests five (5) "passport-sized photos" for each. I count a total of 27 pictures!!?Does anyone have any experience with these specifications? Do they have to be "identical"? Also, I saw in a search of posts that I did, someone mentioned a "negative"...is this still required? Thanks in advance for any help!
No negative required for US applicants. Basically, you get one "immigration sized photo" per person done to the specifications, and ask for as many copies as you'll need to have - so, yes, in that sense they have to be "identical". The photo has to conform to the specifications in the Region Specific forms, Appendix B. US applicants are required to submit 4 of these immigration photos for each applicant (including non-accompanying dependents) with the application. How many of the photos DMPs request seems to vary - our DMP also wanted five.
So, for your wife's application you're looking at 3 original photos (one per person) done per the specs - with 8 copies per person, or 27 total. Be aware they will also ask for photos for the PR card when it's ready to be issued - usually two. So your wife might want to get a couple of extras to avoid having to have them done again later. Also there are specific instructions on how to include them with the application, and these instructions are different depending on whether you are filing an inland or an outland application. I actually created a thread about it on another forum, but this forum won't allow me to post a link to that one, so you can find a copy of the info at this US2Canada link.
Remember, these "immigration photos" are different from the photos you have to include to support the documentation of your genuine relationship.
