PGWP Extention due to passport expiry?

Finally received my work permit extension.
My permit was expired on 6th July 2024
I applied for my extension on 20th June 2024
Got my application number on September but was only able to link it by October.
Got my approval on 5th December 2024 after almost 6 months.
People who have applied by paper and are out of status, please don’t worry. You will eventually receive it but kindly don’t waste your time not building up work experience for your PR. I understand it’s a hassle to convince your employer when you go out of status as you don’t get an implied status letter from IRCC but indeed you are on implied status but since it was a paper application, IRCC won’t provide any information proving it. AND DO NOT LEAVE THE COUNTRY or you’ll be stuck until your work permit gets delivered to your address in Canada and you’ll have to ask someone to courier it to you so you can prove the authorities that you’ve received your work permit once you land back in Canada (just too much hassle).

I applied online

Yes you should do it asap its taking 8-9 months to process extension

I am having a similar issue. The worst is my wife is pregnant and no hospital is willing to attend to her because she doesn't have a health card. Alberta doesn't issue a health card if you don't have a valid work permit . I'm scared that ircc might take longer than they should.

Your spouse : $155
Open work permit holder for you : $100
Open work permit holder for your wife : $100 (I called ircc to confirm this, they said they are not sure whether I need to pay holder fee for my wife, but asked to pay regardless and I'll get a refund if it's in excess. It's better to pay more than pay less)

Total: $510
