I have completed a one-year graduate certificate program in Ontario, Canada. I am on a one-year PGWP which will expire on April 1, 2024, and I am currently working as a Field Coordinator at a construction company in Canada. I have a bachelor's from my home country and 3 years of experience working as an architect. I submitted my EE profile with a score of 511 this month and also an EOI for the PNP OINP Application International Student Stream with a score of 91.
With my PGWP expiring soon and the PGWP extension cancelled what other options can I pursue to continue working legally or at least remain in the country legally if I do not get an ITA from the EE application? Thanks.

Hopefully you will get ITA in time. If not, these are your main options:
1) Change your status to visitor and remain in Canada without working.
2) Have your employer obtain an approved LMIA so that you can switch to a closed work permit.

You don't apply for a TRV. You apply for a visitor record BEFORE your PGWP expires. You would then have to stop working as soon as your PGWP expires but an remain in Canada as a visitor on maintained status while you wait for the visitor record application to be processed.

Hi, is it fine to apply a visitor record mentioning in the statement of purpose that I'm waiting for my profile to be drawn in the EE pool? Wouldn't it affect the application if I have an active EE profile?

Hi Scylla, I got an ITA for OINP ISS and have submitted my application. When applying to extend my stay (Visitor record) is it advisable to explain that I am currently being processed for PNP or should I not mention that and apply for the visitor record as tourism being the reason for staying?
