As you've been told, you need to apply for a Refugee Travel Document from Canada. You need to focus on doing that first. Not sure why you are looking at other web sites.
20. In order to facilitate the extension of validity of Convention Travel Documents where refugees are outside the issuing country, it is also provided that diplomatic or consular authorities, specially authorized for this purpose, shall be empowered to extend, for a period not exceeding six months, the validity of a travel document issued by their Governments [Schedule, paragraph 6(2)]. Although such extensions are stated to be for a period not exceeding six months, a number of Contracting States have authorized extensions by their diplomatic or consular authorities for longer periods. Alternatively, arrangements have been made whereby Convention Travel Documents can be transmitted by diplomatic or consular authorities for renewal, without the need for the refugee himself to return to the issuing country. Such measures take account of the hardship which sometimes arises for a refugee if, in order to renew his travel document, he is required to return to the issuing country, especially when great distances are involved.

Have we not told you to contact the local Canadian Embassy or consulate?
You will have to return to Canada with the year to retain your permanent residency.
Thanks so much for your response.
I live in Canada permanently and have been going back for a one week trip twice a year. So my total absence in 5 years has been 10 weeks
So as my PRTD is a category R-1 and is valid until the end of October 2019, can I travel back to the UK, and then back to Canada using this document?
Thank you again

Hi,
I recently got stranded in the UK as my PR card had expired. They wouldn't let me board the flight.
I since got a PRTD (Multiple Entry) from the Canadian embassy in London, and safely returned to Canada.
As my PRTD says it is "Multiple" and runs until the middle of 2020, does this mean that I can travel back to the UK and then back to Canada on this document? Before my PR card comes through?
Thanks
Hi. How long did you have to wait until you received your prtd?
