Hi .
So my status is up on September 30th and I still haven’t received my PR card. So I’m thinking of going to Long Island to visit family for a few weeks with my fiancé and then coming back. What do you think is the best option for re gaining status ?
Thank you
Are you just waiting for your PR card or are you waiting for your PR application to be approved? These are two very different things and it's important to know which you're referring to.
I’m actually not sure. I received an email from immigration stating ,” We are currently processing your application for permanent residency. You now qualify to receive pre-arrival services to help you prepare for your new life in Canada. These services are only available to you before you enter Canada.”

You are still waiting for your PR application to be approved (not the PR card, this is a separate step after your PR application is approved).
In terms of leaving Canada, you're free to do that. Whether you are allowed back in and for how long is always up to CBSA. If you want to stay longer in Canada and don't want to leave, then you can simply apply for an extension / visitor record from within Canada.
If I leave Canada by myself to visit my family, will I be allowed back in without a problem. I did outland permanent resident application. I am still waiting for my photo to be approved under the permanent resident confirmation step.
