Permanent residence

Hello,
Currently I work in Quebec province and would like to apply for the permanent residence, federal one. My contract is until summer 2017.
As far as I know when I apply for the federal one, I have to agree that I will live and work outside Quebec. It is a bit confusing. In this case what will be with my current work in Quebec?

There is no such rule that you have to work outside Quebec if you receive a federal PR. However, Quebec has a different process for PR - so if you want to continue to work in Quebec after receiving federal PR, then it is a different process. Let us say one gets federal PR in January and his work contract in Quebec will end in June. So after getting PR he can still continue working in Quebec?

I am basically in the same situation as you. One thing that might be handy for you is that once you get your COPR, you don't have to activate it right away. You actually have a couple of months to do that (1 year after your medical), thus you could finish working in Quebec and THEN relocate.

Also, I am not sure whether you can work in Quebec or not if you get a federal PR. The answer is very unclear on this. As a PR you have a constitutional right to move and work freely ANYWHERE in Canada INCLUDING Quebec. So how could they take this right away from you?

Under Section 6 of Canadian law, you can work wherever you want once your PR is confirmed and established. However, I don't know how old this article is, so I am not aware of any new immigration laws passed after the Express Entry system was put in place to mitigate the provincial nomination challenges that this article speaks of. Once you receive your COPR, I recommend getting in touch with the Ottawa office and explaining your situation and asking them.
