Hello, I would be greatfull to any answers. I applied for sponsorship of my husband almost 6 months ago and he lives in Serbia. Office in charge of Serbian applicants is Vienna. After few months I received letter confirming that my sponsorship application has been approved and that my husbands case has been transfered to Vienna which is the office responsible for cases from Serbia. Yesterday I checks application status and I relized that his case has been transfered from Vienna to Belgrade two month ago, only three weeks since the process started in Vienna. Now I'm confused and scared because Belgrade office does not deal with permanent residence cases, only visitors. And it's been sitting there for two monts. I paid all the fees and my husband did his medical four months ago. Please help me if you have similar experiences.
This has happened before. Another couple got their PR app transferred to Belgrade and they got the visa from there, not Vienna. I know Belgrade is not supposed to deal with PR applications, but it seems recently they've moved up and they do that as well.
There's a thread about it here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t26792.0.html
The background checks for men from Serbia usually take a while, so two months of no news is not surprising. It might be a good idea to ask them for an update though.
Thank you so much for your reply. My husband called immigration office this morning and they said that we should expect something soon. It seems that they did not do anything on his case since it got there. I guess it good idea to call them, email them etc...
Anyways I feel much better now! I just want him to get here...
