hi folks,came back to Canada in JUNE-2016 citizenship in June-2021 (after 5 years)……...means from June-2016 to June-2021 eligibility period
He would be exempted even now, the PCC requirements only apply for the last 4 years:

in the past 4 years
for 183 days or more in a row
since the age of 18
