Thanks a lot charmuser.

Dear Mr. Velbypaul,

As you have doubt about PCC you can relate the new passport with the old one. I had done same while I changed my daughter's passport at the time of documents update. The passport office just stamped on the new one inscribing " This passport No. xxxx xx is issued in lieu of old passport no. xxxxxx". Then you may avoid the confusion of PCC. I think PCC will not require against the neww passport so you will get your visa within a short time. Best of luck.

Regards.

Thanks a lot jalams2000. Coz when i enquired in the Passport office, they said they did not know and might have to take PCC. Thinking of that only, gets me tensed coz there is a 45 day timelimit to resend my PP back. Which means if i go for PCC, again it will be delayed. Since when sending to CHC, ND the passports, (old and New) I think there is no need. Thanks a lot. Really helpful.

Hi everybody

This is the current scenario:

I got my damaged passport back in which the lamination was almost completely peeled off. I had applied TATKAAL and got a new passport in 2 days. Today I submitted all the passports to my consultant who would send it to CHC, ND today evening. Probably by Saturday it will reach CHC.

Now my question is, how much longer will I have to wait. Anybody who has gone the same scenario or a similar one, please suggest as to how long it took.

Maximum 10 days. Since your passports are ready for stamping. They would just have to update it in the records and file and then visa issued. Good job.

dear velbypaul,

Please could you tell me how did you apply for tatkal service, actually i spoke to an agent as well as to an employee at passport office, both of them said that for a damaged passport they take 3-4months minimum.
I even told them that I am ready to spend even 20-30k rs but i need a new passport in 1month but there is no way out.
I am really upset as i have submitted my medical and waiting for ppr but my passport is damaged as the lamination got torned out and i dont have such time i guess.
I really felt hopefull after seeing your case as you got a new passport in 2 days. please tell me in details abt your application to passport office.

Sorry for the delay in reply Dev. If you are in India, you also can get your passport in just 2 days, max a week. You will have to go to the Passport office from where your previous passport has been issued. You can either apply as a damaged passport which will cost around 5k
OR
If your passport expiry is near, you can apply for renewal which will cost 2.5k. Its as simple as that. It should never cost more than that. Good Luck.

Can anybody shed some light on my case. Its been more than 2 weeks since i resubmitted my passport and waiting for my Visa. Anybody gone through a similar situation or who has been asked additional documents after meds and was awaiting your passport, please respond. All thoughts are highly appreciated.
