My bf(aussie)'s passport is going be expired on October, 2014. So he got a new one few weeks ago.
But when he got his work permit, it was 2013 January, of course immigration gave him work permit valid till Oct.
His work permit says permit is valid for 24 months from the date of issued. it means he is ok to work till Jan 2015, right?
Then when does he need to get the edited work permit?
He has to leave by oct, and come back? then border will give him the right permit for him(valid till Jan 2015)?
Does anyone have similar case?
He already called CIC but they didn't give him detailed answer.
What if he is over 30? Cuz canada only gives work permit under 30 years old aussies.
I thought it would work like 'when he comes back to canada(he is going to states in July), he would get re-printed his work permit and it will say till Jan 2015'
becuz he already got proved when he got the permit in 2013.
Does he have an LMO? This happened to me before I applied with an expiring passport so they gave me a new work permit tied to the expiry with the passport, When I got my new passport, I reapplied with the same LMO (had to pay the processing fee again) and they gave me 2 years new work permit from the time I sent the second application. Hope this helps.
