That really depends on personal circumstances. I have to travel quite a lot, and after I become Canadian (hopefully soon) I need to have a Canadian passport to be able to return home, since it is a requirement that all dual citizens return to Canada using their Canadian Passport.
My fear is that they will schedule the oath while I'm out of the country and I can't just make a "quick dash back" because I would have to obtain a passport after the oath. So this topic is of interest to me.
My question did any one have experience to apply for a passport same day after OATH CEREMONY. I know during oath ceremony they advise us to wait at least 48 hours for update information in system. But i heard from fellows and this forum people applied after oath same day and its work for them.
I'd be inclined to follow the speed of processing of the office that handled my application.
If I went through the process in Calgary where the IRCC office processes more quickly, I'd be tempted to apply sooner.
I am in Vancouver, where the processing is slower so I will be more likely to wait the recommended 48 hours.
Fingerprints are NOT taken for Cdn passports.
Applying through CanadaPost will take longer, plus u will need to submit originals to them and it takes 2-3 weeks atleast.
Best to apply in person at passport office. You should be able to apply by next day.
You can try same day and see if passport office is able to do it. Otherwise apply in 1-2 days.
Get a 10-yr validity so that you're carefree for longer time than getting the 5-yr validity.
But make sure you attend the oath and get the certificate!

Yes they called my wife today but she didnt pick up the phone. Then they called me and told me that your guarantor is not picking up, i said wait let me wake her up. Lol.
Though they asked me to visit passport office again as they need to manually verify it.
One reason people do that, Coffee, is because if you have to leave work and get your family together and travel to the Federal building, it's nice to be able to put in your passport application at that time instead of having to do it all again.
Probably makes sense - but fyi - there are passport offices that open on Saturdays too. We have at least 2 in the Greater Toronto Area, one in Brampton and the other in Whitby. Not sure where you are located, but its worth to find out if there are any in your area.
That's interesting. I became citizen on March 9th, which is Friday. They told us to apply at least after 3 business days, but I will try on Monday. ECAS shows COMPLETE.
