Dear Experts:
Can I apply for my first Canadian passport by mail?
I have just taken an oath, and would like to apply by mail.
Many friends are telling me it's impossible - one must apply for his first passport in person, but I don't see it in the rules.
Thank you!
it's much EASIER to apply at the passport office in person.
That way you don't have to mail your original documents to them (such as citizenship certificate, etc). I would not wanna lose them in mail.
Thanks everyone
It's not that there are no passport offices around, it's just that I'm so busy!
Anyway, the same 'concerned friend's now says - don't apply for your passport to be sent to you by Canada Post. If you're not home when the mailman comes, no one in your household will be able to sign for the passport, so it will be a lot of hassle for you to stay home and wait for it"
Is that true?
My elderly mother is home almost all the time - can't the mailman hand the envelope to her?
Thanks
