Hey guys! Is finding a part time job for an international student difficult in Winnipeg (especially during heavy snowfall)? What about working full time during off campus? Is that hard to get too? Hearing from many that finding a part time job takes 2 months atleast these days and most don't even get full 20 hours a week. And students kinda struggle to find work during off campus months due to competition. Just curious so please advice me, couldn't find information on the real scenario online so yeah. Thanks in advance and I appreciate it!
Basically, depends on variable factors e.g type of job, your 'soft skills', connection, supply vs demand.
On a day with heavy snowfall life in Winnipeg pretty much goes on as usual!
Make sure your study permit allows working off campus, as there are a few that do not. You will find those conditions on your study permit.
If you qualify as youth, you can go receive free employment services here: https://www.youthemploymentservices.com/ they will help you prepare your resume and they also have a database of some job opportunities.
Also, most stores are starting to hire their seasonal employees for the holidays. I think the Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy will have a hiring event too, and many other stores will have similar hiring events. You're right on time for a job like that.
