May be if Shuga can post some details about the kind of information they give in FOSS it will be very helpful.
i requested FOSS notes mid February and received them recently... depending on what you are requesting it contains all records for your parents, including previous visa applications, medicals, copies of all documents provided, notes that CIC agents made... it has information about correspondence with you, if medical forms were send, if security check is started/completed, etc... for me it was a CD with 112 pages pdf file...

i'm planning on ordering them again soon to see if there is any progress...

i think that FOSS/CAIPS can help if something is wrong - if CIC send the letter/e-mail that you did not receive or something like that... it will not help if your security check is taking longer than usual... and you need to wait for 5 weeks to get it...

Hi Shuga,
Do you know if FOSS is possible for the past applications as well or they would be for in prosess only? I am curious to see a file which was done like 8 years ago, and iti s already closed. I was looking online and they do not mention it should be in process, so I think I should be able to get it? Would appreciate your input. Thanks.

i don't know :( in my file i see my parents applications for visitor visa done in 2006, 2009 and 2010.

Thank you, Shuga. Will try anyways, if not will - loose $5.00 :-)

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to inform everyone that finally my parents received email today for the medical request. Another document they have asked for is the marriage certificate.
Finally my application is moving.
Thanks

Way to go, Ottawa Office!!
Come on Local Visa Offices, its your turn to show what you are made of! 8)

Do you know if my parents can pay landing fee and send receipt along with PCC. I forgot to pay the landing fee with other documents in Dec 2011.
Thanks,

I do not see why you could not?

Thanks,

(btw, congrats!) It is highly recommended that you pay the landing fee and send the receipt along with the PCC, just so as to not give them a chance to delay.

See this and if you like answer:

Congrats ICJ. Pay the landing fee and either fax the receipt or send it along with PCC.

Hi Shuga, did your parents also apply for visas before 2006 or was 2006 their earliest one? Just curious whether they include everything or start from a certain year maybe (e.g.if they implemented some new system)

Where did you find information on how to order FOSS? I.e. which forms to complete and where to send to? I want to order those.

Also, what is the difference between FOSS and CAIPS? THe brief description I found is that FOSS can be ordered if I am in Canada and CAIPS is if ordering from abroad. Is that so?
I am in Canada but my parents are abroad and applied for visitor visas in the past at their local office (and visited Canada multiple times). So, if I want to see both that past visitor visa application info as well as whatever is available on the sponsorship process, do I order FOSS or CAIPS? For them or for myself as well?

Thanks everyone your wishes! I will pay landing fee and send it along with PCC.
