I called CIC call center this morning... they confirmed me they have correct email address on file. The agent also told me that most of the cases CIC sends email requesting medicals, but in some cases they send letters as well. Agent didn't to explain what are those cases.

Regarding submitting representative form, agent told me that I have to send it to CPC-M not CPP-O, we have to send it to the office where we submitted our application.

So the wait continues... One more thing agent confirmed me that the file is still with Ottawa office.

Hello forum members,
I can really use some help from people's experiences thus far. Here is my timeline
Applied for sponsorship: June 2008
Additonal documents request received: November 2011
Additonal docs sent" December 11, 2011

After this my file was returned on January 18th, as one form was stated missing. But the form was in the package. So, I sent the package back to CIC with the cover letter explaining the forms is there etc. The package was received at Mississauga on January 31, 2012. Today I received an email from CIC, which I am pasting below:

I am very confused by this email. The file no. quoted on this email is different from the one that is listed on the letter that was sent to me requesting additional docs. Can someone clarify if the file no changes in the sponsorship approval letters received? Has anyone else received such an email? After 3 months of waiting, I am getting an acknowledgment instead of sponsorship approval! Also, CICs address in this email is different from the one that we have been using to send sponsorship applications- it is P.O.BOx 6100 and different postal code as against P.O.Box 3000. I can't call CIC as I am out of the country. No change in my e-cas. Very frustrating...any insights/suggestions will be much appreciated.

i think it looks like an aknowledgement e-mail - just confirmation that they received you documents...

in my case i did not have/know the Application No before i got an approval letter from CPC-M so i have nothing to compare with... but my UCI has changed - initially it was MY (sponsor's) UCI and then i received a new UCI for my mother (principal applicant) and on the medical forms there is another UCI - for my father (spouse).

Thanks to confirm where to send the Representative Form......

@Tricky, The file no. quoted on this email is different from the one that is listed on the letter that was sent to me requesting additional docs Yes, that is true. This file # starts with Fxxxxxxxxx means, this is file number for your family class application and also for PR application.
I think your file has been accepted and being reviewed for sponsorship eligibility. You would get another email/letter once you are eligible as a sponsor. And the PR file gets transferred to either CPP-Ottawa or local visa office.

Thanks for the reply, Shuga. The application no. must have been written on the additional documents request you received. I wonder if it is the same as the no. on the decision made application? The one I received on my additional docs request is 12 digits and the one on acnowledgement letter starts with F and then has 9 digits
And why does their acknowledgement says 'youtr application for permanent residence'? I am already a citizen. It should say 'your application for sponsorship'. very confusing ???

Just saw your reply. Thanks a lot for clarifying :)
Not sure why so much of a drag in my case...any guesses on how long before I receive the elusive 'approval'?

oh ok i hope you get it soon.

waiting is very hard. I check my eCas everyday no news yet :(

I just called CIC today to get any new insight and heres the summary:

the agent told me they received my package but it hasnt been opened yet and it may take a couple of more weeks as they are just getting back all the packages with additional documents.
once the assessment starts and the sponsorship application is finalized it may go to CPC- O or local office depending who has the capacity to take on more applications. the current timeline for processing is not available to anyone as new measurements have been taken. they are trying to clear out the backlog as fast as possible.

i hope i get something back in the next couple of weeks!!! godspeed to all of us!

Do you have any dependent on your file ?

indeed i do.
my brother is a dependant in this application. he is already in canada studying undergrad and paying international student fees :(

Very curious- Am I the only 'special' case who received an email acknowledgment after submitting the additional docs to Mississauga or are there others? Because from what I have seen, everyone directly received a sponsorship approval followed by file transfer to local office.

I think couple of users got email whereas most of them got acknowledgement letter (not email) before the approval letter..
