yesterday received my parents Medical request letter. Now I have 2 questions:
1- how do you check which visa office processing your case(I guess Montreal is our center)
2- how long these days take after medical exam until visa issue?
Could you please share any information about security screening (A34 comprehensive)?
My dad had several years of conscript almost 60 years ago in China. He only had one simple job in his whole life, no travel history, not involving any political parties.
His security screening started from Dec 2023 until now. Do you have any information about the timeline of security screening for parents?

Yes; spoke to an agent and they basically confirmed the info on the portal, and that the application is in Vancouver. They said they couldn't provide any details beyond that, or an approx wait time from this point on. It's just a waiting game now...

My parents are currently in Canada on visitor's visa, and their six months stay limit ends in April. I've heard I can get an extension by applying for a visitors record, but still have to look into in properly.
If I can avoid sending them back for now, that would be ideal for me.

Yes, while not guaranteed, you could always try for an extension. Another thing you could try is to get them a US visitor visa. Have them visit US. That way they could re enter Canada and get another 6 months (provided the visa is still valid). Another option is Mexico.
Yes, I asked MP for help more than one year ago. They helped to ask the process from IRCC, however every time I got the same result. Usually, they said the application is in process and there is no change.
